Commissions

My very first commission was for a big oil painting of a blue stylised horse, I was just out of the Academy of Art and I remember being really worried to not meet the expectations of my first clients. But they were thrilled with the result and I still remember the sense of achievement.

Over the years I have worked on more commissions and now really enjoy the process. The key, I find, is to communicate well at every step. usually the process unfolds like this: at the first meeting I learn about the wishes for a piece, the intended place and preferred size and any other thoughts. We agree on a brief and a budget is set.

I then need some time to mull things over and in the meantime further ideas and thoughts can still be added to the joint brief by us both. The next step is ideally a studio visit to discuss my proposal and I can show my preliminary ideas and sketches so we can talk about size, medium, materials, colours etc. I then will present a firm proposal including price and timeline. Once agreed I will start working and share my progress and updates.

Feel free to contact me to explore the option of commissioning me.

Sunshine in the morning was set as the theme for this oil painting on canvas to be hung on the bedroom wall. The rhythm of the brushstrokes and the texture of the paint were important markers. The square size was agreed to be 120cmx120cm.
